WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
On our websites, we may also use tiny graphic images called pixel tags, web beacons, or clear gifs. These tiny images help us to analyze our users' online behavior and collect other data, such as page views or advertising responses. Pixel tags also allow us to send you e-mail in a format that you can read, and let us know when you have opened an e-mail message from us. Pixel tags may also be used to deliver cookies.
We work with reputable third parties that provide data tracking and collection technologies in order to:
- Present or serve the advertisements you may see at Groovy Girl websites;
- Deliver and track e-mail communications;
- Process purchase orders through e-commerce transactions;
- Fulfill print and digital subscription orders; and
- Provide marketing leads to third-party organizations (where you have agreed to allow us to do so).
SpaScene sometimes offers contests, sweepstakes, or promotions that are sponsored by or co-sponsored with identified third parties. By virtue of their sponsorship, these third parties may obtain personally-identifying information that visitors voluntarily submit to them in order to participate in the contest, sweepstakes, or promotion. SpaScene has no control over the third-party sponsors' use of this information. If a third-party sponsor beyond our control will obtain information that you supply us, we will notify you at the time we collect the information from you. For certain promotions, only those who provide us with the requested personally-identifying information will be able to order products, programs, and services, or otherwise participate in the promotion's activities and offerings.
WHAT ARE COOKIES AND HOW ARE THEY USED?
"Cookies" are small text files that are used to store and sometimes track information about you. Cookies are not used to run programs and do not deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can configure your browser to decline all cookies. Alternatively, you may be able to modify your browser setting to notify you each time a cookie is tendered and permit you to accept or decline cookies on a case-by-case basis. If you choose to decline cookies, your web browser will be directed to a message suggesting that you upgrade your browser to a recommended version. You will not be able to view information on our web site if you decline cookies.

HOW IS YOUR INFORMATION USED?
We use the personally-identifying information that you provide us to fulfill your requests for our products, programs, and services, to respond to your inquiries about offerings, and to offer you other products, programs, or services that we believe may be of interest to you. We sometimes use this information to communicate with you, such as to notify you when you have won one of our contests, when we make changes to subscriber agreements, to fulfill a request by you for an online newsletter, or to contact you about your account with us.
We may syndicate the publicly available content of our community areas to unaffiliated third-party websites, using RSS or other technologies.
We will use the personally-identifying information that you provide about others only as necessary to provide the products or services that you have requested; for example, to enable us to send them your gifts or cards. If you provide us someone else's personally-identifying information for referral purposes, we may use that information to invite them to visit our websites or to provide them information about our products or services.
If you provide us with your e-mail and/or postal address, we may include that address in e-mail and/or postal address lists that we sell, trade, or rent to third parties. Before sharing your e-mail or postal address with companies not owned by SpaScene who want to market products or services to you, we will provide you with an opportunity to opt out. You may also opt out of the receipt of any marketing materials from SpaScene as detailed below.
We may transfer your sensitive personally-identifying information to other SpaScene offices for internal management and administrative purposes. In addition, your personal data will be transferred to other SpaScene offices where necessary for the performance or conclusion of our contractual obligations to you or for your benefit. Transfers of personally-identifying information may also be made where necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
SpaScene will only share your sensitive personal information with outside companies or individuals in any of the following limited circumstances:
- When you consent to us sharing your sensitive personal information.
- When we have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation, or disclosure is necessary to (a) comply with applicable law, regulation, or legal process; (b) enforce the applicable Terms of Service or other agreements and policies on the Company's Websites; (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect against imminent harm to the rights, property, or safety or SpaScene, its users, or the public as required or permitted by law.
We may also use, transfer, sell, and share aggregated, anonymous data about our users for any legal purpose, such as analyzing usage trends and seeking compatible advertisers and partners. In no event will this aggregated data contain any information that could be used to identify individual users of our products or services.
WHO IS COLLECTING INFORMATION?
When you are on the SpaScene web site and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with SpaScene alone. Some data collected during a sweepstakes, contest or promotion may be shared with a sponsoring partner. You can decide not to participate in such events if you don't want your information to be shared. Our web site also contains links to other third-party web sites. Even if a relationship may exist between such a third-party and SpaScene, SpaScene exercises no authority over, and does not control linked sites, so that if you click on one of these links, you will be leaving our web site and entering another web site. These linked web sites will maintain independent privacy and data collection policies and procedures, and SpaScene assumes no responsibility or liability for these independent web sites or their particular policies and procedures. These links are provided for your convenience, and as such, you access them at your own risk. SpaScene recommends that you carefully review the privacy and data collection policies and procedures of any linked site that you may visit, because those policies and procedures may be very different from our own.
WILL INFORMATION BE SHARED WITH 3RD PARTIES?
Generally, SpaScene will only disclose your personal information to those spa service providers with whom you decide to make spa arrangements or purchase other services through our web site. For example, when you book a spa vacation, we will provide the spa property with the necessary information about you to allow them to process your transaction. We use our reasonable efforts to ensure that these parties will also protect your personal information. SpaScene does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others except to provide products or services you've requested, when we have your permission, or under the following circumstances: (a) to protect the security of our web site and our rights as set forth in our User Agreement, (b) in response to legal process or proceedings, to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims (c) when we believe in good faith that the law requires such action, (d) to a trusted partner who works with or on behalf of SpaScene, provided that such partner delivers to us a confidentiality agreement confirming to us that they do not have an independent right to share this information with others, or (e) in connection with a sale of our business or company.
WHAT CHOICES ARE AVAILABLE TO YOU REGARDING THE COLLECTION, USE, AND DISTRIBUTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
You have choices about how the information you have provided us may be used by us. You can direct us to have your name and address removed from our mailing list. Should you choose this option, you will not receive any future communications from either SpaScene or our partners. You may opt-out of receiving such future communications by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, stating your request to be removed from our lists.
WHAT KINDS OF SECURITY PRECAUTIONS ARE IN PLACE TO PROTECT THE LOSS, MISUSE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR INFORMATION?
We are committed to safeguarding your information. We utilize the full range of the best security technology available, and we continually assess new technology for protecting your information. However, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat those measures or use your personal information for improper purposes. When you place an order online at SpaScene, your credit card information is protected through the use of encryption technology, generally known as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. SSL makes it difficult for your credit card information to be intercepted or stolen during transmission.
