The Athlete's Way to Spa
No matter what your activity, or how grueling your work out, there's somewhere you can go for sport therapy treatment, injury recovery, and pain relief to get you back in the game.
You've been accused of obsession. You don't consider your day started, ended, or even well lived unless you've had your fill of pavement, surf or green. Your friends and loved ones refer to you as "the dog who needs to be taken out." Just like your Cocker Spaniel, you need your training. Yet one part of the routine that's often overlooked is recovery. And despite what you may think, these days, San Diego day spas offer more than manicures and bikini waxes. No matter what your activity, or how grueling your work out, there's somewhere you can go for sport therapy treatment, injury recovery, and pain relief to get you back in the game.
Cosmetics for a Cause
These small indulgences aren’t just good for the skin—they’re good for the soul, too.
Sure, a day at the spa is rewarding. But when you can’t make it to your favorite day spa, you can take the spa experience home by seeking out products that help you rejuvenate, relax and restore your mind, body and soul. While you’re at it, consider these cosmetics for a cause—from a cream that supports programs for the visually impaired to lip color that supports men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS. Now the rewards of a little self-indulgence can go a long way toward helping others.
The Spa Happy Hour
Champagne and spa treatments under the stars? These San Diego spas know just how to bring on the night.
The best workdays are those that end with cocktails in a chic new lounge with your closest friends. But what if you could get a massage while you’re at it? Or order a round of pedicures with those cosmos?
Now you can, at one of the Spa Happy Hours being held throughout town. From luxury resort spas to day spas and salons, San Diego spas are hosting weekday happy hours featuring Champagne and a variety of discounted spa treatments.
With all the abuse your feet get, why not treat them to a vegan pedicure?
More and more nail salons are making a conscious effort to provide luxurious manicures and pedicures that are also organic and/or vegan – meaning the amount of chemicals used during the process is reduced. After all, your very porous nail bed shouldn’t have to absorb acetone. Nor should your skin be exposed to the preservatives in massage lotion. And your toes certainly don’t need the tuolene—an octane booster in gasoline—that’s used in many polishes today.
Spa for Men
Finding bliss is no longer reserved for women – spas now offer treatments, ambience, even drinks that cater to the male persuasion.
On a summer day in San Diego, you might find the city’s coolest guys and most refined men drinking a Black and Tan or a Pinot Grigio at Well-Heeled Salon & Spa in East Village, downtown’s hip and haute neighborhood. Slate-blue walls, exposed industrial pipes, custom metalwork and dark leather lounge chairs aren’t what you’d expect at a San Diego day spa, but neither is a group of well-dressed men. At Well-Heeled, however, owners Mario Vigil and Alex Mendez have designed the interiors to reflect a modern luxury day spa and created a menu of spa services that appeal to men who come from as far away as England.
